چکیده
<p><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p>
<p><strong>Background and Objective</strong>: A global increase in the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with increased morbidity mortality. Oxidative stress a fundamental component pathogenesis DM Ajwa dates are known to have high antioxidant content, especially their seeds. Hence this study was designed determine preventive effects date fruit on alloxan-induced an experimental rat model.</p>
<p><strong>Methods:</strong> This conducted at Post Graduate Medical Institute, Lahore, Pakistan. total forty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into five groups eight animals each. Rats group normal control, whereas B induced intraperitoneal alloxan (160 mg/kg body weight) develop diabetes. Groups C, D, E fed diet supplemented flesh, seed, whole respectively for 1 week. Blood urine glucose levels measured days 0, 7 (pre-alloxan) 11, 14, 19 (post-alloxan). Serum insulin, homeostatic model assessment (HOMA) &beta;-cell function (HOMA-&beta;), insulin resistance (HOMA[1]IR) estimated terminally.</p>
 <p><strong>Results: </strong>Diabetes successfully all except control group. Ajwa-seed (D) showed relative induction three non-diabetic day 19. In E, had lower blood sugar than C (p = 0.010). HOMA-&beta; HOMA-IR, revealed partial beta cells restoration D C. Insulin significantly higher, despite highest level (3.77 &micro;IU/ml; p value &lt;0.001) C.</p>
<p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> seed powder appears provide protection against development by alloxan.</p>

Anti-cancer effects of Ajwa dates (Phoenix dactylifera L.) in diethylnitrosamine induced hepatocellular carcinoma in Wistar rats
BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for major cancer-related deaths despite current advanced therapies. Treatment and prognosis of HCC is better in patients with preserved liver function. Many natural products including ajwa dates (Phoenix dactylifera L.), are claimed to have hepatoprotective and HCC inhibitory effects, but most lack scientific validation. To prove our hypothesis...

The ameliorative activity of aqueous extract of the flesh of dates (Phoenix dactylifera L.) and ascorbic acid on thioacetamide-induced hepatotoxicity was studied in rats. Sixty male rats were divided into six equal groups of 10. Two groups were controls, one treated with thioacetamide and one with only distilled water. Two groups received extract of flesh Phoenix dactylifera and intraperitoneal...

متن کاملEthanolic extract of Amaranthus paniculatus Linn. ameliorates diabetes-associated complications in alloxan-induced diabetic rats
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and anti-inflammatory potentials of ethanolic extract of leaves of Amaranthus paniculatus linn. (EEAP) on alloxan-induced diabetic rats scientifically. Hyperglycemia induces the generation of free radicals which can affect antioxidant defenses, thus leading to the disruption of beta cellular functions, oxidative d...
